In every retail ecosystem, progress emerges from the relationship between different store formats and the unique qualities they bring to the table. Alongside big brands and chains, a part of this world comprises smaller, locally rooted retail formats. A great example is the ZAM retail chain from Inđija. It is our partner, friend, and valued client with whom we grow and help grow in return.
Known as Yellow Markets, ZAM has been operating since 1989. The chain includes 21 stores, with nearly 300 employees, and proudly carries the slogan “Buy local, in local markets.” ZAM is a member of the Domestic Trading Chain (DTL), competitive in the Srem market with stable growth and increasing net revenue. Owner Zdravko Mrđa laid a solid foundation for a family-run business that thrives today.
INPUT Tailor-made solutions
The collaboration between INPUT and ZAM has a history: We supported ZAM's network expansion and contributed to transforming small shops into larger markets. How did we do this?
By first getting to know each other well, which allowed us to carefully plan and implement shelving systems, fruit islands, and checkout counters. We also provided shopping baskets and carts, enhancing the shopping experience.
Additionally, we developed specific custom-made solutions for parasite shelves and wooden bread shelf cladding, ensuring that every aspect is tailored to market needs.

The city of Inđija has long been considered one of the most economically developed areas in the country. Of its roughly 50 square kilometers, 17 yellow ZAM markets are spread across the area. Firmly embedded in Inđija’s local economy, they enjoy the trust and loyalty of their customers. This retail relationship is only achieved by nurturing close ties with the local community and offering consistently high-quality service.
Challenges & solutions
INPUT began its partnership with ZAM markets by adapting store spaces and designing personalized solutions tailored to each store’s specific needs. In our latest project for ZAM, which recently opened in Inđija, we delivered checkout counters with a basin 20 cm longer than previous solutions. This adjustment was initiated by ZAM, recognizing the need for easier product maneuverability. With the new dimensions, including a conveyor belt of 1.55 m and a basin of 94 cm, we significantly enhanced the customer experience.
Renovating smaller markets and delivering comprehensive solutions for larger ones strengthened our partnership and built a relationship of trust. With their innovation and openness to new technologies, ZAM has demonstrated its commitment to development, and by implementing the INPUT digital signage system, they have further improved communication and interaction with consumers.
